Secondary World Book Day 2023
On 28th February we celebrated World Book Day at Chobham. Our theme for the day was ‘We Love to Read’ and this passion was evident in the hard work students and staff put into creating imaginative costumes, dressing up as their favourite characters from literature. Across the day students enjoyed hearing about Gregor Samsa’s unexplained transformation into a giant insect in Kafka’s Metamorphosis, with teachers each reading them a chapter across the day. Year 7 and 8 students were excited to quiz the critically-acclaimed author of Ghostcloud, Michael Mann about how he became a writer. And students produced high quality artwork reflecting the Academy’s values, taking part in the ICHEER book cover competition.
Students who haven’t already claimed their free World Book Day book, can still access their digital token to discover one of the books published specifically for the Day or to get a discount on a full price title. The tokens and more information are available here.
