Week 1 (wc 4th Jan)

Literacy Y3 W1 L1 4.1.21
Welcome to our new topic - The Iron Man! In this introduction lesson, we will be learning new vocabulary and listening to a rhythmic poem about the Iron Man. We will also be identifying rhymes within the poem, before listening to the first chapter of the Iron Man. Your challenge this week is to learn the poem 'The Coming of the Iron Man' by Brenda Williams off by heart. Enjoy!

History Y3 L1 4.1.21
In this lesson, you will be introduced to our new history topic - The Iron Age!  We will be learning about how archeologists use stratigraphy to date evidence, and we will have a chance to create our very own archeological sites!

Maths Y3 L2 5.1.21
We are starting our Maths this half term with the topic of ‘multiplication and division’. The lesson this week starts with a revision of your previous learning of 10 x table and dividing by 10. Then, you will be practising multiplication facts from the 5 x table and solving problems linked to the 5 x table.

Science Y3 L 5.1.21
We are starting our Science this half term with the topic of ‘Rocks and Soils’. In this week’s lesson, you will be looking at and identifying different types of rocks, as well as classifying and grouping them by their features, for example size and appearance. Once you have watched the recorded lesson and engaged with the teaching slides, please complete a short quiz on Purple Mash to test your knowledge. You also have an extension task to complete at the end of the teaching slides should you finish your lessons and completed your main task quickly. Good luck!

W1 Y3 RE lesson - 06.01.21
Welcome to our first RE lesson for this term. Today, we will be learning about the religion of Sikhism. We will be looking at different symbols of Sikhism,  why they are important to Sikhs, and some key facts about the religion. At the end of the lesson, you will be able to draw your own 'Khanda' (symbol of Sikhism) and complete a paragraph using the key words from the video. Enjoy!

W1 Y3 Literacy lesson 3 - 06.01.21
In this literacy lesson, we will be studying the first chapter of the Iron Man in more detail. We will be following success criteria to identify key words, and skim and scan for them in the text, to then retrieve key information from the text. After we have practiced a few reading comprehension questions, we will challenge ourselves to answer inference questions too. Enjoy!

Maths Y3 L4 7.1.21
We continue our Maths this half term with the topic of ‘multiplication and division’. Today’s lesson starts with a revision of your previous learning of division facts linked to the 5 times table. Then, you will be learning to recall and use multiplication facts for the 2 times table. Enjoy!

Reading comprehension W1 Y3 07.01.20
In today's lesson, we will be focussing on two different types of questions: retrieval and vocabulary interpretation. We will learn how to answer on both types following specific strategies. The first type is focussing on the ability to skim and scan from the text trying to find the answer, the second part is based on the vocabulary, trying to explain the meaning of the words in context. Remember to pause the video in order to answer on your questions.

Literacy long-write - Y3 W1 7.1.21
In this video, you will learn how to retell chapter 1 of The Iron Man. The video begins by recapping previously taught vocabulary, before analysing a text against the success criteria. Miss Fenton then shows you how to use the help sheet to write your own descriptive story about the Iron Man. Remember to write in your most beautiful handwriting, following the l x and y height letter rules. Good luck and enjoy!

Geography Y3 L1 8.1.21
We are starting our Geography this half term with the question: ‘What resources do we use and Why?’ In this week’s lesson, you will be learning about the meaning of sustainability, and how to live sustainably by meeting the needs of today’s generation without harming the needs of future generations. Once you have watched the recorded lesson and engaged with the teaching slides, please complete a short quiz on Purple Mash to test your knowledge. Good luck!

Maths Y3 L5 8.1.21
We continue our Maths this half term with the topic of ‘multiplication and division’. Today’s lesson starts with a revision of your previous learning of recalling and using multiplication facts for the 2 times table. Then, you will be learning to divide numbers by two and to solve problems involving diving by two.
